First on my list, I'll be hosting the New Testament In A Week event, April 1 through April 8th. I'll be doing the New Testament in Reading God's Story: A Chronological Daily Bible, edited by George Guthrie. The translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible.

This would be a great time to read George Guthrie's Read the Bible for Life: Your Guide to Understanding and Living God's Word.  I started this one last fall, but, I got distracted--or subtracted as the case may be--and never finished it.

I definitely plan on reading The ESV and the English Bible Legacy by Leland Ryken. The ESV is probably my favorite-and-best translation of choice. Though I do love the NASB. (My top five would probably be ESV, NASB, HCSB, KJV, NKJV).

And this one looks fabulous!!! Experiencing the Presence of God: Teachings from the Book of Hebrews by A.W. Tozer! I've always struggled with the book of Hebrews, and maybe this one can help me grasp it better!

And then there is this one from R.A. Torrey that I'd love to get to! The Holy Spirit Who He Is and What He Does. I just loved Charles Spurgeon book on the Holy Spirit--R.C. Sproul has also written a great one. I was reading in my Joy of Calvinism book a week or two ago, and the author mentioned how those in the Reformed (Calvinist) tradition really CELEBRATE the Holy Spirit, and I think that is true--very true. The more you know, the more wowed and amazed you can be in response to realizing just how much God has blessed us by giving us His Spirit.

Letters To A Diminished Church: Passionate Arguments for the Relevance of Christian Doctrine by Dorothy Sayers. While I haven't given up completely on finding a copy of Creed or Chaos, I thought I would start by reading what Sayers still is in print! And doesn't this have a wonderful subtitle!!! Dorothy Sayers is one of my favorite, favorite, favorite mystery writers. But it wasn't until recently that I learned she wrote quite a bit about Christianity too.

Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer. I am so excited to read this one!!! I've heard some great things about it!

Jesus, Our Man in Glory. A.W. Tozer. This one I've had for many years--probably close to a decade. But it wasn't until this past week that I actually opened the book and started reading it. It is SO, SO, SO, SO, SO good. And it is another book all about the Book of Hebrews!!!

Essential Works of Charles Spurgeon: Selected Books, Sermons, And Other Writings, edited by Daniel Partner. I am SO SO SO excited that this "little" book came home with me. I've been looking for more Spurgeon, and this should keep me satisfied for a few months at least!!! Of course, I'd love to read anything and everything he ever wrote, so I know I'll always keep looking for even more Spurgeon. But this looked like a good, logical next choice for me!
