Quotes from the Clouds #13

This year, I hope share weekly posts of quotes. These quotes are from authors I'm reading and enjoying from the Clouds of Witnesses Reading Challenge

For fellow participants, what I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see is for people to share quotes from what they're reading. I'd love for you to share quotes occasionally with your readers and let me know about it. If you don't have a blog, you could always leave quotes in the comments here.
If religion be worth anything it is worth everything; if it be anything it is everything. Religion cannot go halves with anything else, it must be all. We must, if we be thoroughly imbued with the spirit of Christ, imitate Christ in this — the giving up of all to God. ~ Charles Spurgeon, "Christ About His Father's Business"
“Spiritual disciplines can trim the roots of sin, but only the gospel pulls up the roots.” ~ John Owen
Holiness is nothing but the implanting, writing, and living out of the gospel in our souls. ~ John Owen
A person cannot rationalize away or turn aside from the words Christ spoke while on the earth. ~ Francis Schaeffer, "The Book of Revelation: Future, Yet A Unity with the Present"
It is perfectly possible to use the word God and yet under the umbrella of that word to hate the God who is. ~ Francis Schaeffer, "What is Enough?"
Sin consists in nothing but this, that man determined to be something and would not allow God to be everything; and the redemption of Jesus has no other aim than that God should again become everything in our heart and life. ~ Andrew Murray , The Fullness of the Spirit
