Quotes from the Cloud #8

This year, I hope share weekly posts of quotes. These quotes are from authors I'm reading and enjoying from the Clouds of Witnesses Reading Challenge

For fellow participants, what I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see is for people to share quotes from what they're reading. I'd love for you to share quotes occasionally with your readers and let me know about it. If you don't have a blog, you could always leave quotes in the comments here.
We should so carry ourselves that we may be content to stay here till God has done that work He has to do in us and by us, and then He will call us hence in the best time. ~ Richard Sibbes
How necessary for our instruction and God’s glory that we should accept His Word just as we find it, and not as interpreted by a fallible church or as reflected from a human standard. It is perilous to study the Bible in any other light than its own, or to recognize any other interpreter than its Divine Author. ~ Octavius Winslow
We glorify God when we are God-admirers—when we admire His attributes, which are the glistering beams by which the divine nature shines forth; His promises, which are the charter of free grace, and the spiritual cabinet where the pearl of price is hid; the noble effects of His power and wisdom in making the world, which is called “the work of His fingers” (Psalm 8:3). ~ Thomas Watson
Prayer is a sincere, sensible, affectionate pouring out of the heart or soul to God—through Christ, in the strength and assistance of the Holy Spirit—for such things as God has promised, or according to the Word, for the good of the church, with submission, in faith, to the will of God. ~ John Bunyan
